Enabling the Session Bus Access permission fixes it. The issue seems to just be that the permission is disabled by default.
Linux
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Thanks. I no longer get the error messages when running it from the terminal but I am getting the same issues i was getting earlier when I run it from the desktop
It seems the problem was that the steam client has a problem running with the dGPU in an amd+amd system. Running it with the iGPU solves the issue.
Thanks for the report. This issue was supposed to have been fixed in the Flatpak package, but you just brought to my attention that part of the fix was accidentally reverted. I'm sending a new PR right now to try to fix the issue again.
And thank you for the PR and your general contributions to the open source community. It is because of amazing people like you that idiots like me are able to daily drive linux
