More than two-thirds of Texas inmates are serving their time without air conditioning as temperatures across the state consistently reach triple digits this summer. Their living and working conditions, under these circumstances, put them at risk of heat-related illness and in the worst cases, death.

Once they are in prison, it is our responsibility to keep them alive (death row notwithstanding). It's not about who they are or what they did, it's about who we are.

It is very easy for conservatives to dehumanize others. Conservatives seem to have a collective borderline personality disorder. Anyone who is not part of their in-group is categorized as their enemy.
