Does it worry anyone else that someone from a spaceship can beam directly to the operations centre on DS9?

I accept it is an exploding ship, so it is an emergency, but the operations centre is the heart of DS9 and should be a secure section. Also shouldn't emergency beam-ins be directed to somewhere like the infirmary?

I've always thought the transporter set up on DS9 was a bit weird. Is there another transporter, except the cargo bay transporters, apart from the one in ops? Why did the Cardassians set it up like that?

It was only a mining station but they were very concerned about security as you can see from the episode Civil Defence, so why have a direct way to access ops like you said?

In the same episode Dukat beams direct to ops and then tries to get out the same way. He fails and is also trapped so they're probably not meant as an escape route.

Maybe it's the way Cardassian ops is set up and they're all military, so everyone there is armed and combat trained and they feel secure. It might also be the most secure place Bajorans don't have access to on the station, making it hard for them to use in an escape or an attempt to take over the station.

It gets weirder -- in "Rules of Acquisition" (I think it is), Zek's servant walks straight into Ops to give Kira a present.

The servant of a visiting Ambassador (of sorts) has direct access to the command and control centre of the entire station? That doesn't seem..... odd to anyone else?

Don't Keiko and Molly come up to ops at points as well?

So far (just based on my memories and re-watch) they've been transported there by Rumplestiltskin (I kid you not) and sometimes visit with Miles (in his company). I can't remember if they just turn up.

But at least they are -- arguably -- station personnel. Keiko is a teacher/botanist and Molly is...... okay, she's a kid, but she's Miles' daughter as opposed to a random stranger who probably shouldn't be there (if that makes sense?).

I do remember Rumplestiltskin! That was a weird one.

Yeah they do have slightly more excuse I guess, there was no excuse to beam them directly to ops. Was Odo there? I doubt he'd have let it happen lol
