It would become like a mini tournament, and how do you choose the matches? who will play against who? Keep it simply, they already have ton of matches.
Conference vs Europa for the chance to challenge the European top dog. It's already pretty lopsided in favour of the Champions League winner with only Atlético Madrid winning it as the Europa League winner in the last 16 years.
