Is it compatible with android phones?
They always were. But why would you?
For $30 (<$20 if you know where to look) EarPods are actually a good value unlike like the older style iPod earbuds. They aren't replacing my IEMs any time soon, but I paid 4x as much for those.
Do they have ANC, an 8hr battery life, and touch controls? If so, I suppose I would consider them.
Edit: I see, AirPods are Bluetooth, EarPods are wired.
They have infinite battery life because they are wired.
Though I would love to see where you are finding wireless earbuds with ANC, 8 hour battery, and touch controls for $30.
EarPods are wired headphones
why would headphones have touch controls
Easier to to keep them water resistant/dustproof, for one.
On earbuds, there's no much space for a button. Responding to just taps on the bud feels intuitive and works well.
If you have a wire, controller on the wire makes more sense.
EarPods =/ AirPods
These are wired earbuds, not bluetooth.
tough to beat for the price
...no
Not from what I can see. But I don't think they're even out in people's hands yet.
Am I really weird in that all this coverage of cables and wired headphones seems irrelevant? Bluetooth headphones are cheap, wireless chargers are cheap, and other than a slight change in behavior they work the same with some extra conveniences.
Is it really that weird that I never plug my phone into anything?
No, it's not weird, and rumor has it that for years now Apple has wanted to make a portless phone.
I think they want to make money off of accessories and dongles but they're all a bit inconvenient tbh. I do think all phones should have headphone jacks though.
Suspect they are still not compatable with my ears, and would fall out if I tried them, but good to see they are finally going with universal charge.
Good, its extremely stupid it took this long.
