I have been using the hoyoplay launcher for a long time with no issues. I installed it through steam and it ran perfectly until they released the latest update for the launcher. I updated the launcher and now it won't launch through steam, lutris or heroic. In steam, the launcher will popup for a split second then close. In lutris and Heroic launcher it will launch to a black screen. I found that other ppl are having the same issue and some said that I need to install web view 2 through bottles. I installed web view 2 through bottles, I launched hoyoplay launcher in bottles, and finally it works.... Or so I thought. The launcher works properly in bottles, I was able to link my games but when I click start game the launcher will close for a second, then pop back up. It doesn't actually launch the game. I even verified the game files through the launcher but that didn't work. Not sure what to do at this point. I also tried just running the game exe itself but it says it needs the launcher to play..

Other things I've tried is using a variety of different runners in the different launchers - wine, proton etc. I even booted up my windows to go USB drive, installed the launcher, then transferred the files to my Linux PC and no luck

EDIT: I got Genshin Impact to work. The launcher still doesn't work in steam, but I found the right exe that will launch Genshin without the launcher. Go to the install folder "Genshin Impact" then go to the folder "Genshin Impact Game." Launch the Genshinimpact.exe in which ever launcher. It works in steam with proton experimental. So my solution right now is to use bottles to update/install the games then just launch the individual game exe in steam. This works for Genshin and ZZZ. I'm sure it will work for the other games.

I've been fighting with it since 5.5. I was able to play in Fedora 42 using Proton Experimental this morning, but it's been super hit and miss for me.

You guys managed to run it?!

Personally I always used my leftover windows partition to update Genshin, then use steam to run the .exe

What game do you play though? Kinda curious if honkai 3rd is finally running on linux

I was playing Genshin and ZZZ with no issues before the latest update. I tried just running the genshon exe but it said I needs the launcher.

Have you tried different versions of proton? Occasionally I've been able to resolve similar issues by selecting an older version of proton for a specific game, but it's very hit or miss.

Yes I've tried a bunch of different versions
