Yes. I use a FireFox extension called ViolentMonkey that allows you to install scripts.

There is a script called Simple YouTube Age Restriction Bypass: https://github.com/zerodytrash/Simple-YouTube-Age-Restriction-Bypass?tab=readme-ov-file

Install the script in Violent Monkey and you should be all set to watch age restricted videos in Firefox without signing in.

I haven't used yt-dlp in a hot minute, but it used to have a simple bypass for age-restricted videos that didn't need browser cookies. Anyone know if that still works?

yt-dlp is still alive, well and actively developed. It can now target abunch of different platforms.

Sure, but what about the age-restriction bypass, specifically?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Far as I know, in my own usage, you can’t bypass the age restriction currently. Maybe I’m using it wrong?

You cannot. And you also now often get blocked when using a VPN, and have to use a flag to use cookies to get past it.

What do you mean by using a flag? I’d like to level up my VPN game

It could be that Youtube also broke how it used to work, and it doesn't work anymore. I was just hoping maybe it did, for OP's sake.

Isnt this possible with Grayjay, or do you still need an account?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

It's possible. You have to tick a setting.

You need an account. There is no bypass or workaround at this moment.

you seem confident, but it seems this is not true

I use BravePipe on android. No account needed. Also can include Bitchute and Rumble if you desire.

Long ago i was building a front-end for YouTube. Back then it was just a parameter to the video in the embedded iframe. So my front-end was playing all videos without any account or being logged in.

Since the plugin works, I guess it just toggles that parameter too. Not sure why Google doesnt require an actual login but they dont (or didnt).
