BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - A group of veterans showed up this morning to protest the recent cuts recently made by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency. The protest took place in front of the Biloxi VA Center, where veterans held signs protesting the cuts.
More than 80,000 workers have been cut. Veterans taking part in the protest say they are feeling the effects.
”The cuts that he is doing is wrong. Not only is it towards the VA, it’s also for social security, the poor and also for our children as well,” said Albert Littell.
”There’s a process and structure. Let’s just get back to normal order because these decisions do not stand or pass the scrutiny test in normal order. This is not about if you want to cut it or increase it. This is about them laying down an edict and them expecting us to just be fine with it, and we’re not,” said Paul Blackman.
Many experts are worried that the cuts in the VA departments could leave many without critical safety nets and mental health support.
