In the pro version of Win 11 when it asks you to sign in, it's still possible to select:

  1. Set up for work or school
  2. Next
  3. Sign-in options (very small link)
  4. Domain join instead

Then it lets you to add a local account. Knowing MS, they probably will prevent this too soon.

If they get rid of domain join there will be an uproar. I also think government orgs will still be using domains for a while.

Frustratingly, that would also mean dropping at least one of my favorite games rn.

I'm very much considering dual booting defaulting to Linux whenever Win10 support is properly dropped.

My new work laptop i couldn't work out how to set it up without signing into Windows.

It just had sign in or create account.

I switched to Linux about two months ago, never looked back.
