does it taste similar to Mountain Dew? Tried it for the first time and thought, wow that tastes unique and maybe slightly similar to Mountain Dew? But really tasty :-)

I don't find Almdudler comparable to Mountain Dew. But what I do think is similar to Almdudler is Rivella. Though I like the taste of Almdudler a lot more.

Don't know M.D. but the closest i know is Ginger Ale from Schweppes.

this post is an offence punishable by death in Austria

LOL, I really liked it. Especially the unique taste surprised me. But somehow I couldn't really determine what it tastes similar to, so if someone would ask what it tastes like? What would you say?

Mitzi bring me my pitchfork! Time for some "corrective measures"! ;)

hahahaha, didn't know this was such a thing :-D I am sorry Austria, please forgive me!

They aren't really known for forgiveness, I mean look at the dude who became vengeful after failing to be admitted to art school in munich - and before the Austrians claim he was German, he was not

I thought he was alright. "Rock Me Amadeus" is a pretty decent song.

similar to Mountain Dew

Is this the real life? Or is this a blasphemy?

I always have it when I go snowboarding 🏂 in the Alps and I love it. I tried it while working in the office, it was not the same :( Damn the office!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 22 hours ago

You fool! Its Club Mate in the office, Dudler (or warm piss, whatever you prefer) on the slopes

Okay one of my favourite things to do when I visit a new country is sample any local sodas, snacks and takeaways I come across—so, where would I find this interesting item as it has managed to evade my knowledge until now

Edit: it's Austrian, that explains it—as a happy coincidence, I'm hopefully visiting Vienna for the first time later this year

Double edit: ITT any other local drinks and snacks people recommend I seek out: (bonus points for Italian, Hungarian or Austrian given my current travel plans this year)

Here in Austria you'll find Almdudler in most of the restaurants.

Don't miss out on the following snacks:

  • Drageé Keksi
  • Blaschke Kokoskuppel
  • Manner Schnitten
  • Auer Baumstämme

Also try Blaufränkisch red wine (from Austria's east) - you also can get it Hungarian made by the name of Kekfrankos(sp?).

Dragee Keksi haben die Rezeptur geändert ;(

Soletti sind aber nice (gehören aber mittlerweile 50/50 zu einer US+DE Firma)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

You can also find it easily in Germany. Where I bought it :-)

This post is absolutely hilarious to me but I have to caveat that I've never had Mountain Dew. Now I wonder what the fuck Mountain Dew actually is.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

It's like Sprite but sweeter

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I tried mountain dew once and it was so sweet that it tasted like more viscose syrup. I have no idea how people drink it.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 22 hours ago

That describes the majority of popular US drinks and sweets.
