It's not so much the guy they're afraid of, they're afraid of what his actions could spur others into repeating. They're afraid of what can be done to them if multiple people follow suit. And y'know what? Maybe that's what we need now. Enough of us fearing them, and them fearing us. We don't need them. They need us. And it's well past the time to give them a reminder of that. Through force, if necessary. Preferably without bloodshed, but at this rate it doesn't look good. They've shown time and again they don't care about how many of us lose our lives to preventable circumstances, so it's time to MAKE them care again.

Remember, they're not threatened by Luigi. They're threatened by the fact that so many people love Luigi and what he stands for.

This was the straw that broke the camel's back. I remember seeing something a while back on r/coolguides about alternatives for various sites, including Lemmy as an alternative to Reddit. Today, I saw the writing on the wall and decided it was time.

The worst isn't just the Luigi thing, it's that in the future, they will most likely expand it to include any topic that the administration disapproves of.

As always, follow the money. Those in power want more and more money and in order to do so they need to control the population. If there is one remaining social aggregate that can foster sentiment against them, they will come down hard on it. Reddit became a corporation like Facebook and then now they want to add Reddit to the list of social aggregates they control.

He "allegedly" killed one of them. So they should feel threatened.

Strangely reminds me of the Always Sunny episode where they convinced people that a water stain on their kitchen wall was the Virgin Mary, and Charlie started blessing people. On a serious note tho, portraying Luigi Mangione and Donald Trump as saviors seems equally fucked up to me.
