Like there is the Official Mastodon app for Mastodon, and Element app for Matrix, which app is considered the most official lemmy app for Android [possibly also for ios]

Or atleast, the app which supports most(if not all) the features available in Lemmy

Jerboa is the official Android app made by Lemmy's developers. Unfortunately it's a bit buggy and they don't have the time to focus on it because they're busy with the web version of Lemmy already. It's still very usable though.

Jerboa is notably not the official Lemmy app. It is made by the Lemmy developers, but they do not consider it to be any more official than any other Lemmy app.

"A bit buggy" is quite the understatement. Elemental things like editing text in the input box (like deleting words or characters that are mistyped) cause completely unexpected things to happen to the text. I would not call it usable by a long shot.

Jebora seems to have this very annoying and deal breaking bug that makes it difficult for me to use it

Never ever experienced that in my massive whole maybe 2 months so far of using it... haha. I just wish I could block instances.

Yeah the post is an interesting question because the "official" app isn't as polished as you might expect it to be.

Lemmy apps are interesting in that they are all so different that you need to just try a few and find one you like.

Me personally, I like Sync, but I've also tried Thunder, Jerboa, and Liftoff. Each has their pros and cons, and you've just got to try them out and can't really rely on "most official" as a good metric

which one is most aesthetically pleasing?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That's very subjective, so it's hard to say! I find Sync to be the best, but I enjoy the look and feel of Thunder.

I'd say give them a whirl, they're all free and most run without signing in just fine

Voyager but it's a Webapp

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

none of them.

i've heard that jerboa is from the same devs as lemmy, if that is 'official' for you.

i personally use sync, but just because i've used it for reddit and i like the interface.

Eternity is nice, it's a fork of Infinity the Reddit client.

I currently use it, it just doesnt seem to have notifications or it could be I messed up something

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Under 'Inbox' it shows Replies, Mentions and Messages. Seems to work okay here?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It does, not push notifications when not using the app like Infinity for Reddit does

Ah sorry, mine does but I'm using graphene an android based but not directly android OS.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Graphene isnt supposed to be a fork of Android?

If I tell you what I use you will start to cry in pain so I will save some sadness.

I’ve been pretty happy with Voyager.

Connect isn't bad. They can't seem to get blur right (currently must have "NSFW" stamped on it) and sometimes a refresh causes some kind of weird looping of content, but beyond that it's stable and had good features.

I am using Jerboa, still on alpha but good enough, devs seems working on it and spam updates every week.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I'd say that you're going to get a good experience from Sync. He's constantly adding features to it that actually go above and beyond what Lemmy offers by default.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

There is no official app. Just try out apps until you find one that you like.

I'm using Liftoff.

Boost for Android is another option, eh?
