Yeah but instead of encouraging other nations with diplomacy the good guy veil is off. Now people have to ask if we are the baddies. Especially, if those carriers are being turned on former allies. Plus who wants to work with a country that does through bipolar episodes every 4 years.
For the better part of a century, America’s foreign policy has boiled down to this: We foot most of the bills and prevent bullies from rolling over weaker sovereign states. In return, we get a world that (mostly) behaves itself.
And all the wealth extracted from smaller "sovereign nations". And all the wealth extracted from allies through weapon system integration... I.E. selling all your allies either the same fighters etc you use, or systems to integrate sensor packages and IFF systems between allies. For great profit . Shout out to France seeing that shit coming after WW2(?) and making themselves as independent re: Military Industrial Complex as possible. And totally ignore all the "sovereign nations" where you orchestrated coups and installed dictators/warlords who are/were willing to help you extract that wealth.
