Hopefully this means backwards compatibility on digitally purchased titles. Would be silly if they still didn't have this figured out.

Heh, maybe they'll do a "console as a service" thing. Everything is more and more just digital goods and nobody eg. owns games anymore it's all just "you have a license to play this game", so why bother selling hardware at all?
If that's the case it'll be the first nintendo platform I don't buy since the original NES. I still buy physical cartridges and if that's no longer an option I guess I'm just a retro gamer playing emulated systems.
Same. There is something about holding onto a physical copy that digital will never replace. You could also let friends borrow them and resell them.
According to Nintendo, this is already the case with games you play.
