Almost makes two different French fry (his and her) at the same time. It's great.

My fragile masculinity has been struggling with ungendered potatoes, thank the heavens for this revelation!

Well, I did say "almost makes" to be fair

But it can also make his and his, her and her, they and they, and even them and them potatoes. It's quite versatile.

Sadly, it doesn't make throuple potatoes.

The only thing this meme is missing is some double deepfry filter.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It can literally fry two things

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 days ago

It does and it can

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I should have bought this version. I got the single basket and I'm telling you man when you want to double fry french fries it takes for fucking ever

Nah the one with the glass door is where it’s at. We have it and it’s great. Can both air fry, bake, toast, etc. and there’s multiple large racks.

The ninja foodi. It’s a bit pricey though so you may want a slightly different version

That's all an air fryer really is. It just lifts the material up into a basket so it can circulate air quickly around it to "fry" it with air.

Otherwise it's almost identical to a convection setting on an oven.

I was pretty skeptical of them when I clicked "Technology Connections" video on them. It's the same thing as a convection oven, what's the big deal?

Well it's the same just like how a quadcopter drone is the same thing as a RC dual rotor helicopter

It's like yeah they're the same thing, but they have some important differences too.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Nah man it's a Ninja Foodie

It's totally different from an oven because... Reasons...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Only really in name (convection oven), other than that, it basically just cycles hot air around the inside, cooking faster and more even than ordinary ovens.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Is that different from an oven with air circulation?

Ah yes, everyone's favorite brown jacket man.

I think I skipped that video, will go watch it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

I got no clue, its probably not that different in that aspect at least.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

An air fryer is basically an oven

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Interesting, I have to bowl-like version and I wish I knew that was a thing beforehand.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What if I came over and cooked crack in your air fryer.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago

I better get half

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So do they make one that doesn't send "u up?" dm's to Xi Jinping or no?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

i’m still waiting on a non-plastic air fryer

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

laughs in cast-iron pan from 90 years ago

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

i’ve been wanting to get into cast iron pans for a while now but it’s been hard to switch from stainless steel. it just feels wrong to have a kitchen with no cast irons and i do love how long cast irons last.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

I found one once in a kitchen of a place I moved into. Cleaned the rust off, seasoned it, used it. When the time is right and your heart is ready, a cast iron pan will find its way to you.

Carbon steel pans are also pretty cool. You also gotta season them and care for them. But they can have thin bottoms so they heat up quickly for stir-fries etc. Traditional woks are carbon steel.

No more non-stick cookware for me. Too paranoid about PFAS.

I'm torn hard between instant pot + air fryer vs just air fryer. can fry two things tho...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago

What kind of cooking do you do? Do you tend to bake/fry a lot of things? Do you tend to cook a lot of things on your stovetop? Do you like to slow cook things? Do you like to cook stuff that needs to soak/marinate or otherwise needs a lot of time?

Things I make in my instant pot: rice (white or seasoned), beans, seasoned proteins, stew, soup... All ready quick without soaking etc.

Things I make in my air fryer: frozen food, convenience food. I make rolls/toast in mine too, but I'm not sure you can do this in a typical air fryer. (I have a secondhand Breville air fryer.)

My advice to you is, whatever you decide on, to buy secondhand. Both appliances you're considering are popular and are somewhat easy to find used. You will save a lot of money and if you decide you don't like it, you can pass it back on to the used market and not be out as much money.

Instant pot can make way healthier meals. Cut back on fried food and start making delicious, healthy soups! Bonus is that soups store really well in the fridge AND freeze really well, so you can do big meal prep really easily with an instant pot!

Edit: instant pot is also really great at making rice and pasta! People even use it for steam-baking with the pot-in-pot method (but that’s a bit advanced)!

That Ninja company has a model called the Foodie that is an all in one air fryer/pressure/slow cooker. It's absolutely fantastic. Granted I have my trust crock pot that I found at a yard sale for $20 but that option is there.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

If you can afford it, get one of each. The ability to cook rice, vegetables and chicken all at once it's pretty amazing.

Someone doesn't reheat their tea in the airfryer
