You should know about https://lemmy-federate.com/. By default many users off .ml don't see your community and they need to subscribe to see things from there. Lemmy federate fixes that by subscribing from many instances to your community

wow! thanks for the TIP, sadly when I try to submit [email protected] there it says "Instance is not registered"

Odd. People will have to manually subscribe to your community, then. ML is a strange choice for an official community, too. But i won't knock it. Best of luck to you! :D

Why is Lemmy.ml "a strange choice for an official community" ??? It is about FOSS which ArcaneChat is and it is maintained by the Lemmy developers and I joined it 4 years ago, is there something I should be aware of? Could you please elaborate?

Don't worry too much about it. But since you asked:

The admins are very, very controversial. One has even doxxed a person https://lemm.ee/post/41908733

It is very ban-happy. Many people are banned for the simplest things under the guise of "rule 1"

Despite it not being advertised as so, it is a very political instance. Hell, if you oppose the ideology (.ml stands for marxism-leninism) you will straight up be banned, and it has happened to many people many times.

There is a lot of toxicity in that instance. A lot of this is because of the top points, it is practically begging to be a toxic space.

Many people have it blocked just so they don't deal with the shenanigans over there. They may not see your community.

And last of all, it doesn't work with lemmy-federate :(

But don't worry!

You can always create a community on another instance, and mod it from your main! You need to create an alt on that instance, though. If you need help with that, please DM me. i'll be more than glad to help you set up a community on any instance then give it to you.

Many folks tend to avoid .ml due to the political views of the instance admins.

Mmmh but the instance itself is not about politics at all and the rules seems fair, I don't need the admins to have the same political ideology or being vegan or not because I am. Or I wouldn't even use Lemmy then? because they are the developers in the end. As long as they don't do something pretty bad, they are free to have their own opinions. It would be really hard then to find an instance where you agree in everything with the admins 😅

Thanks for clarifying!
