That's because your version of civil resistance comes from exaggerated American myth of cowboys mixed with the imagery of civil wars in impoverished countries.
If your fear was about a civil war and roaming bands of rednecks on trucks with a bunch of rifles, then yeah, imagine defending your homestead Rambo style all you want, we all seen mad max. But if you're worried about fascist government, then the only difference your gun makes is that you will be Branched Davidianed instead of dark van disappeared, and I am pretty sure that's not the fantasy here.
The only way to beat fascism from the inside is the community, mutual aid, resistance, not fantasising about shootouts with the gestapo.

Seven steps before this scenario might occure, a dark van with three armored guys comes to your house to question you, and if you so much as brandish your gun, they will legally shoot you dead. And before you fantasise more about glorious revolutions and tachankas on the streets of Washington, I need to remind you that you didn't managed to get enough momentum to vote twice in a row, and escaping to live in the forest and sabotage delivery chains requires way more commitment than marking a paper once every two years.
And that's probably a good thing. Hell doesn't exist, but the closest thing to an eternity in hell is a day in a city torn by a civil war.

If you are in a situation where your people are behind every blade of grass, sitting with a gun, what the fuck are you doing then, you won already, you have exactly the ingredients for the systematic change, big and dedicated community.
But if you don't have big enough community to change or at least affect the government, you are sure as shit don't have big enough community to enact whatever Rambo fantasies you have. You have enough people to be hunted like an animal and be made an example of what happens when a small group of lunatics are starting to think they can affect the faschistic machine with a pistol.
