Hey, I have the Apple Watxh Series 5, it’s awesome and had it since 2020. It’s working well but I like the keyboard and some of the features on the newer models.

I don’t want this become a “Should I upgrade to the 9 or wait for the X/10” thing so my question to the beautiful users Lemmy is Do you think the Apple Watch Series 5 will get WatchOS 11?

I will keep my current watch until I lose software support on my S5, Even though it’s stripped down.

Thanks

Series 4 will get WatchOS 10 this fall (source), I’m not gonna worry about 11 until next summer.

I think so, but that is because I think watchOS 11 is going to be a very minor update.

Unfortunatly nobody has a crystal sphere, but, looking at Wikipedia, I would say that the expected support span is of ~5 years. As the Series 4 is getting WatchOS 10, I would say that the Series 5 will get WatchOS 11.

But... Apple could always change their minds for the worst (stop at 10) or for the better (going further than 11), only time will tell.

The Series 4 has the same processor as the Series 5, which makes me worried since it’s now a 5 year old processor.
