Firefox has a link that goes to their sister kbin community, but you don't see it until you click chat with us. So I don't think lot of people knew /r/firefox has gotten set up on the fediverse.

So, can you subscribe to Kbin communities via Lemmy and vice versa? It doesn't seem so.

You can, it's just that federation with remote communities is janky on many instances and it often needs a couple refreshes to get a working link. Try https://discuss.online/c/[email protected]

Try putting the full URL to the Kbin magazine in the Lemmy search box and it should work.

Hmm... it's empty when I try to access it from my instance https://discuss.tchncs.de/c/[email protected]

Yeah, it's one of the growing pains of the fediverse from different instances. Things don't start syncing up until the moment someone from your instance first joins. So you won't see old comments. Only new ones. I've taken to viewing communities that aren't on my instance from the direct link to see stuff that hasn't shown up on mine.
