It would be cool if there was a list of endorsements for things that currently abide by these principals

The tricky thing is everyone has a slightly different definition of what terms like Small Web means - this is theirs. So what strictly meets their criteria are their own tools: Kitten, Domain and Place.

I'd assume a lot of open source, self-hosted social projects also count.
