The way the caps are attached seems to be terrible for accessibility. A family member has arthritis and struggles with them.
Zero Waste
Being "zero waste" means that we adopt steps towards reducing personal waste and minimizing our environmental impact.
Our community places a major focus on the 5 R's: refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot. We practice this by reducing consumption, choosing reusable goods, recycling, composting, and helping each other improve.
We also recognize excess CO₂, other GHG emissions, and general resource usage as waste.
They are terrible. Do you know about the french water brand cristaline ? Look up for their caps (french : bouchon de cristaline) they are even worst. With any hand disablity you have to ask someone else for water. Unfortunatly more and more bottles are sold with this type of caps in France. I wish brand would bring water dispenser to supermarket. This way, one could still have a large choice of water but choose a bootle that fit its taste and ability while dramatically reducing waste.
The only situation where I buy water is if I need water in a bottle, because I don't have one on me. In any other situation Vienna has perfect mountain spring tap water.
I can't imagine there could be enough demand for this idea.
You don't even need demand, if done well this could save money to water seller by reducing the their need for raw material. More benefice and the biggest of all time greenwashing promotion is enough of an incentive on the offer side.
Space in a supermarket costs limited. And since we still live under capitalism, both the supermarket and the water company needs to make money, otherwise what's the point for them.
You're right. I have imagined that there would be room from the space previously occupied by the bottles but in a more realistic sceanario, they will still be some bottles sold.
Anyway, companies don't seem to be looking at this kind of solution...
