Being "zero waste" means that we adopt steps towards reducing personal waste and minimizing our environmental impact.

Our community places a major focus on the 5 R's: refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot. We practice this by reducing consumption, choosing reusable goods, recycling, composting, and helping each other improve.

We also recognize excess CO₂, other GHG emissions, and general resource usage as waste.

Space in a supermarket costs limited. And since we still live under capitalism, both the supermarket and the water company needs to make money, otherwise what's the point for them.

You're right. I have imagined that there would be room from the space previously occupied by the bottles but in a more realistic sceanario, they will still be some bottles sold.
Anyway, companies don't seem to be looking at this kind of solution...
