Couple of friends and I like to watch movies together, so when we do some car camping we like to take a tiny projector and put on a movie. Curious if anyone else does this and if so what movies? So far we've done Blair Witch, Evil Dead, Big Money Rustlas(I know), and Infinity Pool.

I used to do that on my laptop a few times, but I've found lately that I camp to get away from modern media stimulation and electronics, not just use them in a different location.

That's fair, to each their own. Definitely the one thing we are okay with taking with us since we're all film nerds. I think using a little projector helps distance you from that feeling a bit too. I've watched stuff on a laptop and it just feels the same as laying in bed with your laptop. The projector gives more of a drive-in theater vibe.

This is what I don't get. Why go camping to then do something that you usually do at home that in no way involves the camping/nature/scenery/...?

It's something my friends and I like to do together, still sitting by the fire and enjoying being out in nature. I think having a movie that is in nature feels a lot better, something like Blair Witch. Curious how would something like reading fit into that then? I also enjoy reading while relaxing in the woods, and that seems pretty normal despite sorta taking you out of the camping/nature.

No worries, you can do that. It is just that when I sit by the fire, want to enjoy the fire.

I can still see it having a place. Watching a movie you've wanted to see for a while in a place where you can't be interrupted by social media notifications, traffic noise, neighbors, deliveries, etc. Can be very nice. And if you have small kids sometimes a good movie is the only way to get them to slow down and be calm and focused for a couple hours. But its not really something I'd consider "camping" for me.

Good points, like some others here. Makes sense.

Should do, The Hills Have Eyes. Would freak me out to watch that movie while camping.

Haven't done it, but it sounds awesome. Also when you wrote "(I know)” after Big Money Rustlas clearly you meant that you know that movie is amazing.

Oh of course. Sadly I went to a Speedway to get Faygo because it says they sell it, but they didn't have it. Can't imagine how much more of an experience it would have been with some Rock n Rye

Not with a projector, but just having a couple things saved on the phone is nice to have for a rainy day or to fall asleep to.
