I would say it's just the natural progression of the concept, like how there is a pride flag, but there is also a progress pride flag.
So queer is more inclusive than just gay, because not all queers are gay, and aiming to improve our existing habitat to the point where we don't need to expand beyond it (to survive, anyway) seems like a smart move. As for anarchism vs communism, as an an-com all I can say is

I really, REALLY like this idea of coming together with some cool people to actually make some progress for once, and not just to raise the bottom line this quarter.
When we get old, we don't just gain the ability to stop working, but we also lose the ability to do many things. Imagine what we would do, if we actually had that time RIGHT NOW!
More cool small projects would pop up everywhere, since those ideas don't need to be profitable anymore.
