Summary

Andrew and Tristan Tate face charges in Romania for human trafficking, rape, and abuse, yet their trial has been repeatedly delayed using legal tactics to hold up proceedings.

The Tates, notorious for misogynistic and far-right views on social media, allegedly exploited women through the “lover boy” method, in which men pretend to be caring boyfriends before forcing their victims into prostitution as well as appearing in online sex channels and porn films.

Despite a 2024 court decision to proceed with a criminal trial, proceedings have stalled. Romania’s justice system, criticized for leniency toward traffickers, further complicates justice.

The Tates remain publicly popular, with Andrew even receiving applause at a Romanian festival amid these allegations.

It seems like weaponizing the justice systems of the world to let the worst people get away with shit has really become en vogue.

  1. Its more that they're returning to the old ways. Unfortunately it was a brief, exclusively western concept that justice was universal.
  2. There is a solution to it. Western Europeans did it before, we can do it again.

The worst people who can afford ~~the best~~ skilled lawyers have been trying that kind of shenanigans since the beginning of lawyers and courts.

They learned from our local high-profile crooks that if you can delay proceeding for a couple years, the process ends. Or if you know people that know people you might get lucky and a judge retires, in which case the whole thing starts from scratch. Meantime they can continue to build their public image and pick fights with kermit or whoever on twitter. have very little hope that they will be prosecuted "to the full extent of the law".

When a loser knows they will lose they will delay.

I was astonished that one of my colleagues is actually a fan of Andrew Tate. Mind you he is also based in Europe, where people tend to be more self aware.

He actually is also into Trump and is a global warming denier, so I guess he fits the profile and still I think this is the first person I personally know who sympathizes with them.

The far right is really on the rise and we as humanity seems to have learned absolutely nothing from history.

Europeans are not self aware at all they just arrogantly think they are. For example they pretend their countries are any less racist than America when they aren't, they just pretend it isn't a problem and smear anyone who cares to claim otherwise. That's the opposite of self aware, it's wilful ignorance.

Have you ever been to Europe? Because I have been traveling all over the world including the US, and spent a couple of months there, and I can tell you that even though there are some really great people in the US, the amount of self entitled people there is astonishing compared to any other country I have been to.

I am not saying there aren't any racist or self entitled people in Europe too, of course there are, but in my opinion much less compared to the US. Simply the fact that half of your population votes for Trump and Republican policies is quite telling.

You know the Earth doesn't revolve around you.

I am a brown person and I've gotten a lot more dirty looks and subtle passive-aggressive comments as a tourist in Europe travelling with my white American girlfriend than at home in the US, even in the southern states.

As for Trump, just remember that Europeans have elected the likes of Boris Johnson and Priti Patel, Marine Le Pen made it to the final round of the French elections from what I've heard, AfD is on the rise in Germany, Benito Mussolini's granddaughter who very much thinks just like him is in the Italian parliament, and Hungary keeps electing Viktor Orban.

So are you really any better or just more stuck up like I said?

AfD was not founded by former SS officers, wtf are you talking about?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I got it mixed up since I dont exactly follow European politics I just know what I hear on the news. It was these guys in Austria who were founded by former SS. I knew there was some far right party in modern Europe that was but I remembered wrong. AfD is much more recent but regardless they're still far worse than most American Republicans as is the fact that there is any active political party in Europe that was founded by literal Nazis.

Clever beard game from Andy. It almost hides his absence of a chin.

Few months ago I saw one of them driving around in a McLaren, so unfortunately they don’t seem to be that affected by the legal stuff.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

I don't know a fucking thing about Romanian law but this sounds 100% normal. If it's to your advantage to delay then your lawyer will delay.
