Gosh, I wonder which side would do such a thing.

Watch it'll again be those who work forces
Maybe this ages like milk but... The side that expects to win doesn't destroy ballots. It seems very likely to me that this was a Trumper and they all know, in their heart of hearts, Trump has a ceiling of 47pts and will never have broad enough support to win the ec again.
They also know dems are more likely to vote early. I guarantee these vote boxes don't get torched in deeply red counties.
Portland and Vancouver have both had repeated problems with the Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer, so I don't think it will be too hard to figure this one out.
Somebody is bragging on Telegram or somewhere, it will bite them.
We've been using Idaho as Nazi storage since the eighties.
Oh, yeah, but the Proud Boy problem has been coming down from Vancouver, Camas, Battleground...
It's wrong for some random citizen to torch someone's democratic agency. That's what the Electoral College is for.
I'm now aware that there's a Vancouver in the US. I thought it was illegal Canadian votes coming over.
I mean... We here in Vancouver BC just had a Provincial election that is so fiercely fought they are still tallying votes a week after the fact and the winner still has not been officially declared and we have no idea if we have a minority or majority government because some districts (ridings) are like 20 votes apart.
Our election is on fire... Just not literally.
Vancouver Washington is a fun place. I say I live in Washington and a good chunk of people assume DC. I say Vancouver and they think Canada. I usually just tell people I live in Portland and only a small chunk associate that with Maine by default. Also we were first BC... We were first.
Blah blah blah stop the steal blah blah blah imma steal it instead.
The penalty for burning ballots should be burning at the stake.
Idk about that but certainly a realistic punishment in addition to hefty fines and jail time is losing the right to vote for life
Need guards at the boxes or we are gonna need fireproof boxes. We could just have the boxes manned like the scanners are and be sure the ballots are scanned into the database when dropped off so the vote is cast and the paper is just for records.
Let's arm the children so they can patrol the ballot boxes.
/s because you can never be sure when one of the dumbest things you've suggested may become a talking point and then official policy
Fireproof boxes wouldn't help; an incendiary device was placed inside the box.
I seem to recall that at least some boxes in AZ have fire suppression. It's not impossible.
Both of these boxes also had fire suppressants in them. The one in Portland worked, which is why they only lost a few ballots. The one in Vancouver did not work.
I hate Pacific Northwest Nazis.
Guards are a terrible idea. Voter intimidation anyone?
We absolutely have the tech for fireproof boxes though.
They don't have to be standing next to the box. They can be nearby in a car or in a building with camera feed. As long as they are able to pursue someone that tampers with the box.
So, my wife is an elected precinct committee person and last election we were tasked with watching a ballot box to make sure nothing went wrong and nobody was intimidated.
We parked on the other side of the street about a block down and just... watched.
It was fine!
But it was also only on the very last day...
That's neat, but not really what comes to mind when I hear "guards."
Were you two prepared to intervene if someone started lighting the box on fire?
Definitely, I wasn't going to let her do it by herself and I have a concealed carry permit. ;)
That idea would connect voters to the votes they cast. Terrible idea.
That already happens when you vote in person. It's scanned into the machine.
In a highly-controlled and staffed room where no one is allowed recording equipment. This is an external box with no staff. You either need a camera for security (which would connect the counting of the vote with the video's timestamp) or forego one (which allows for illegal ballot stuffing)
Well something needs to be done because allowing arson to destroy votes is not something that should be allowed.
What's happening in Canada?
There is a Vancouver in Washington State.
I was going to make a joke about the US naming cities after places in other countries, but I looked it up and it turns out the US city is older.
The more you know!
We actually did just have our provincial election so this was confusing for me.
So... Are they going to have a re-vote? Like what's going to happen to all the lost ballets?
