Even if the jokes weren't racist as hell, they're just generally shitty unfunny jokes

Mind you, if they were just shitty unfunny jokes, he'd just be boring rather than horrific

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago

This is stupid, the only winning move is to ignore this dumb shit and just vote for progressive politicians who actually care about their constituents

As an aspiring comedian, I never liked hinchcliff. His "Kill Tony" podcast and format has always been ridiculously racist/sexist. He's a "shock comedian" just like anthony jelineck. They say the most upsetting, shitty things, and because it's so awkward and shitty, it makes people laugh. This is because after saying something horrible, the audience is forced to make a decision. Either the comedian is a terrible person with terrible opinions, OR the comedian is playing a character who happens to be a terrible person (think It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia).

The problem with this approach, is that it's only funny if the comedian is an otherwise good person. However, with a lot of these "shock comedians," you can tell that they're not playing a character, they're just shitty people. hinchcliff is one of those people.

I never noticed it was the same guy.

Guess I'm not watching that anymore. I only watched the Dr Phil skit, that was somewhat funny, but that's it.

I don't care for hinchcliff, but he is no fool and he is a sharp comedian. These were low level hack purposefully racist jokes. Most don't know that he wrote for the WWE, he knows this audience extremely well. I honestly think he's playing both sides here. If Trump loses he will have helped by making maga look bad and racist etc as is currently happening and he'll come out with a revelation that it was all an act. And he will have been paid to do it. If Trump wins he gets to be king racist comic and continues his colbert-esque act for them. His humor is specifically edgy and racial but far more clever than what he did for this rally. That's my theory anyway.

Puerto Rico is an American territory. The self-own is palpable

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago

They don't know or understand that.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's actually pretty normal to talk shit about various states and cities. Sometimes for no reason at all.

If he had made that same joke about Hawaii I'd probably laugh. It's context of racism that makes it awful.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago

Yeah, it was really great that the US destroyed the Kingdom of Hawai'i. Nice.

I didn't have much respect for Tony before, but whooo that set was straight up dog shit.

Michael Richards set was better. You know the one.

"I hate you, you're a piece of trash and you should die."

"Why can't people take a joke"?

-Conservative comedians

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Fuck this joke of a human being. One of my best friends is from Puerto Rico, and he's more American than this fuck sack will ever be.

(Still fucked up that Puerto Rico isnt a state.)

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago

It's their choice

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

He's pulling the "people have no sense of humor" shit. See though, when you make race jokes it's up to the race you're talking about to decide if you're being offensive or funny. And we agree he's being racist to us. When a conservative comedian who hates brown people makes these "jokes", we know they're not really jokes

The uber I took home on Saturday had a right-wing radio show playing, and it was the same deal.

Saying horrible things under the guise of "humor" but blurring the line just enough that the audience might think it's real.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I try not to give negative reviews. I stick with either a positive for something truly outstanding or nothing at all (my default). But an unsafe driver gets a negative review because I want to protect other passengers. Similarly, I'd ding a driver who had political or religious garbage playing. They should create a neutral environment.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, I considered that, but I don't listen to right wing radio. In the moment it felt important to hear that so I could gain a better understanding.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago

If your not rich, white or straight They don't like you. There. I saved you having to listen to any more.

"They love making babies"? Setting aside that false, racist stereotype, white conservative Americans actually do have that culture.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quiverfull

Quiverfull is a Christian theological position that sees large families as a blessing from God.

I have a white GOP cousin who came from a family with 5 kids, and she has 7 kids of her own. I have a white conservative ex girlfriend who has 6 kids.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It's bad them brown people do it.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago

Because they see it as a competition. They want to be the ones to "inherit the earth," and see other ethnic groups "being fruitful and multiplying" as a threat to their own ethnicity. It's barely veiled white supremacy supported by warped Christian theology.

Jesus that's gross. I've said this before and I know my non American point of view is irrelevant but I cannot fathom how Trump is even a serious candidate in a western democracy.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago

According to somebody I know who's voting Trump? Economy bad, so everything and everyone else be damned. He doesn't like Trump, but he'd vote for actual Hitler if he thinks it would improve the economy.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think it's pretty simple.

We want to think we're not assholes, as a country, but we are. The more important thing though is that we're mostly economically poor assholes, and we got poorer under Biden these last four years, so people care less about what a huge asshole and fascist Trump is as he's the candidate of change.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Or the fact that Biden's leadership ensured we became less poor over the past four years than the rest of the world. The GOP is also gaslighting that it's all because of immigration. They also have no understanding that tariffs and mass deportations like Trump is suggesting would absolutely crater the economy. No sense of neuance for at least 40% of Americans whatsoever. Everything is about "fuck you I got mine".

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago

I think if any of the voters here in America could think of the larger implications of their vote, they'd never vote Democrat or Republican.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 days ago

Even if he loses in 8 days, America is pretty far gone that it could’ve let somebody like him get as far as he has.

Oh look, a hitler rally in 2024.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yes I know about Hitler, but what about second Hitler?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago
