Element for that one friend who's also privacy conscious Telegram, Discord and Facebook Messenger (yuck) for everyone else.

Whatsapp and Google Messenger for RCS. I wish other apps could use RCS or I'd use third party.
I only message my spouse on a regular basis. Been using Signal for the last few years. Otherwise I just stick to iMessage for everything else. I donβt text anyone else that much to try and convince them to switch to Signal or another alternative.
Unfortunately it's whatever the other person uses. So iMessage, WhatsApp, Instagram, line, and FB.
WhatsApp and Telegram.
Element for friends and the gamers, Signal for family, and telegram for the rest
I use FB Messenger, Whatsapp and Element.
Telegram almost exclusively, SMS for stubborn family, and Discord for stubborn communities that won't use something better.
almost exclusively Snapchat, and a little bit of Telegram, then Teams and outlook for work.
I use too many different messaging apps.
- Telegram is my go to. I enjoy the features, stickers, and the ability to have a separate, encrypted chat with someone.
- Speaking of encryption, Signal is great for encryption. Not as many features as in Telegram from what I can tell.
- Element is a good messaging app if you're looking for something utilizing Matrix.
- I tried others like FluffyChat, but overall I'm not a fan of the chatrooms that they have.
- For some of my gamer friends, they prefer Discord, so now and then I'll message them there, though I prefer Discord for the voice channels personally.
- I have some friends that use Snapchat. I don't see the appeal.
- WhatsApp has a bit of a stranglehold in certain areas geographically and on older folks. I was able to get some of my family on Telegram, but not some of my distant family, so now I have both.
I used fb messenger for anything communication in my family, friends, and my class. I kinda used discord, but non of my friends use it.
Signal Telegram Threema Briar Conversations for XMPP Element for Matrix Jami SimpleX
At the moment, as they come and go a bit as I'm testing out new ones.
I sadly still use facebook as that's the only way I can keep up with family. Instagram because everyone who competes in my sport uses it, and lemmy.
I've got Silence for text messages and Cheogram for chatting with my partner since he wants the messages encrypted.
Signal
I use the message app that came with my phone, lol. No one in my life seems to use anything else, either.
Element (Matrix), Schildichat (Matrix), signal, telegram.
