Which influence did the Sopranos have? I'm not that familiar with that show

It was basically the first of HBO's narratively complex, multi-season, ensemble cast, adult shows. Its success paved the way for shows like The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, and Game of Thrones which were all massively influential in their own right.

Oz came before the Sopranos. I dare say Oz turned all drama on it's head.

Game of Thrones is probably one, with the mix of sex, politics and fantasy that was new for that era.

The Witcher was probably created based on the success of GoT

I feel like most fantasy shows now are trying to capture the GOT audience. Everything from "wheel of time", "witcher", "shadow and bone" even "rings of power", etc I don't think we would have gotten a lot of those if it was not for companies trying to cater to a similar audience but they also all miss the mark imo

Even GOT missed the mark by the end, if you believe the media sources.

I watched the first season. It was alright.

Usually when I consume movies/TV I'm also gaming, so I didn't get the full impact. My attention was certainly divided.

You're going to miss a lot of the nuance in any complex show that way. A lot of storytelling is nonverbal and easily missed if you're distracted.

I don't disagree. I tend to have on shows I've seen before. Its background noise more than anything.

Anything more complex than a sit com or such, and I get lost because I wasn't paying attention. I'm not very good at just sitting and watching a movie without something else to occupy my hands/mind.

I'm very much the same I often rewatch shows while doing "mindless" grind activities in games. Or watch shows I find bad after giving them a try because.... I have a hard time actually giving something up half way.
