Climate - truthful information about climate, related activism and politics.

Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

It's bullshit like this that really makes me want to give them real reason to fear "ecoterrorists". The main problem is that I lack money to buy an attack helicopter to blow up their mansions, cars, yachts and other shit.

A game like Just Cause where you're supposed to blow up those things would be cathartic as fuck

I don't think endangering people is a good idea.

I'm surprised we haven't seen more infrastructure sabotage from ecoactivists. Train rails out of coal mines and into coal ports seem pretty vulnerable to acts that would reduce the profitability of burning coal.

The only reason I glanced at the article was to check whether any real platform was hosting his lessons.

Dear reader, I am happily able to report he is fully self published online.

I wonder if he also compares the sinking T rates in men with his super macho and manly voice.

It’s not surprising to see a man funded by big oil and other anti-progressive establishments peddling bullshit that teaches people how to be complacent idiots that punch down at the poor, non-Christian, and trans communities.

it’s not just complacent - it’s worse than that - it’s dehumanising… it’s active; complacency is passive

Thank you. This is more on point than what I said.

The Wilks brothers are huge investors/funders of PragerU, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz’s 2016 campaign, and are the reason The Daily Wire even exists. Jordan Peterson is now on their payroll.

Not sure what he’s considered but he has a bunch of videos and material on the Daily Wire, including stuff that’s behind a subscription model.

Norway

Holy shit, that's some impressive conservative bullshit!

Breivik is OPENLY a 'Cultural' Christian, he made his reasons very clear. He wrote a damn manifesto, here's an analysis of it:

Christian Terror in Europe? The Bible in Anders Behring Breivik’s Manifesto

In the attempts to understand the ideology underpinning the terror attack in Norway 22nd July 2011, and the growth of far-right extremism in Europe more generally, Christianity and the uses of the Bible are a largely neglected feature. In this article, I examine the way in which the Bible is used in Anders Behring Breivik’s manifesto, arguing that this provides an important example of the role of Christianity in far-right discourse. I show that the Bible functions as a legitimating device, glossing violence as defense of a Christian Europe; as a motivational instrument, positing God as a fellow fighter; and, as an origin for Europe. The Bible is situated in a pre-modern state where its signifying powers are policed. At the same time, it is wrenched out of this solidified framework, cut up and pasted into the manifesto hypertext in order to serve as a contemporary ally to an anti-Muslim and anti-multicultural cause.

This is right up Jordan Peterson's alley.

Small edit:

a screenshot from his manifesto:

They're gonna start trying to normalize ecofascism aren't they

[–] msage 8 points 2 days ago

Start? That's what Donald Trump did in the office. And technically has been happening long before that, just not that brazingly.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

I hope this reasoning comes with a hefty price tag

My mate has signed up for the 'university', cost him like 600$ for access to the courses... Kinda given up on him, he's drunk the flavor aid of the "woke cancel-culture is ruining the world" bullshit.

I always hear about Shapiro, Peterson, Crawler (or whatever his name is), and their debates. Is there somebody on the other side? I don't know about anyone.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

It's like how there are mass shooters and then there are sane people with guns. You don't remember the name of the latter because they are the vast majority and comparatively boring than the former.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 days ago (2 children)

How could one compare the two? They are so different. Climate activists are dangerous criminals that must be stopped at all cost, even if that includes criminalising carrying glue in public. Mass shooters on the other hand are just a fact of life. How would we even try to stop them? By criminalising carrying a firearm in public?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago

You just compared them, shh don't let the media write a hit piece on you!

What makes you think I was being sarcastic?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Calling mass shooters a fact of life, implying we can't ban guns, calling climate activists dangerous criminals. But I'm autistic so I can't tell if its sarcasm or if you genuinely hold those beliefs.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sorry, I didn't want to confuse you. My comment was very much sarcastic.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Thanks for the clarity :)

Gonna skirt right round the serious discussion about oil company based misinformation here and point out that his suit is an extreme act of terror on the seeing.

those pesky protestors mildly inconviencing me >:(

Quick, grab a buzzword out of the hat, I require a message!

Y'wanna do anything about mass shootings?

No?

Okay.
