Not to sound ignorant, but I am; what's the difference between this and say the 3rd gen? I borrowed one many years ago and I read with it just fine. I can't really imagine it needing much else since I, apart from a screen dedicated for reading, I have everything else in other devices already.

Yeah, I have the 6th gen I think and the only thing I really want is usb-c. Because apart from an old jbl box it's the only micro usb device I still have. But that's not worth the upgrade, given that I don't use it that much.

Yeah, you can just get a $5 asapter if you really didn't want to keep a couple cables lying around in the drawer.
