I've seen a bunch of NDP signs spray painted with "commie" in my riding here on Vancouver Island.
British Columbia
News, highlights and more relating to this great province!
Ha accusing them of being left when in actuality they’re centre.
Conservatives cheating to try and win? I'm shocked. Shocked! Well, not that shocked.
They want more control of the Canadian population. As 33m (80.5%) of provincial control isn’t enough for their greedy hands, Pierre Poilievre is hoping to win a majority with no opposition.
The face of the NDP candidate was cut out of most signs here, on Vancouver Island, too. I also noticed several big ones that were knocked over, and others that were stolen.
Small lawn signs on private residences seem to be untouched, it's just the big signs on public property, that I've noticed.
It's ridiculous. Not very surprising that it seems to be coming nearly universally from supporters of the party that bases policy on American QAnon conspiracy theory talking points (that teachers are brainwashing kids to turn them trans), punching down on trans kids for political points with bigots.
There’s a giant Conservative sign up close to the highway by me and the guy’s face has a hole punched clean through it.
As much as I find it distasteful that people interfere with election signs, I find the hyperbole from politicians when this gets reported so over the top.
Like, you ordered a few hundred plastic signs from China, smeared them all over the city, and a couple went missing. In a week you’re throwing them all in a landfill. You’re not losing an election and our democracy isn’t threatened because some of your trash got stolen.
He had 300 signs and 150 have been stolen. Not really a case of a small handful.
There was a Muslim Canadian woman running in Toronto many years back who not only had her signs stolen but some were put back up weeks after they were supposed to be down leading her campaign (which lost) to be fined for not taking them down. Some people are giant assholes and don't like democracy. Signs on lawns might not be convincing people to vote but it can let you know you might not be the only supporter in your area.
