Don't you think it's quite ironic that the subject I’m trying to avoid is being discussed in this post?

What a privileged life you must lead where you can simply ignore all those things without it mattering.

You have a responsibility to be sad!

So hostile. Have you considered that some people just use Lemmy for memes and have other means of keeping up with the dystopian nightmare bullshit du jour?

In the sense that I don't live in a warzone, yes. Otherwise it's more that I lack the economic privilege to be politically engaged, because every day is a struggle to attend to the bottom rung of my needs hierarchy.

Add musk to that list.

Unless you're a member of PerfumeLemmy

I feel kinda conflicted on whether or not it makes me a bad person if I hide Israel/Palestine posts. Of course it's bad for my mental health if I have to hear about an ongoing genocide all the time, but I don't know how I can stay informed on top of that.

Hey @OP @syd : what client for lemmy are you using ? I’ve been looking for ages for this ( i can’t find an app on iOS with this feature)

And for the rest of commenters : yes ! “No care about americanski drama” In fact, i wish the internet would have the “mute ‘murrica” button/option.

It also works with Boost for Lemmy

I wish desktop lemmy had this.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago

The list is missing the words "Poll" and "AI".

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago

Fuck me. Thank you. Life just got a lot easier.

It's easier to not care. It's selfish, a bit cruel, it's literally the least you can do to carry a basic awareness of ongoing truth, but it is easier I imagine to pretend it isn't happening and just fixate on what's left when you remove all of that from Lemmy... So just, oops all Linux memes?

I think it’s the opposite. All the outrage on social media just feeds back into itself. It’s an engine fueling disillusionment, not productive change.

I'm considering sequestering myself until the US election is over. If I just see the result it will be less mentally taxing than if I watch the entire process. I think I would legitimately turn into that screaming liberal guy if I watched the election result coverage live.

You forgot beans.

I've never really used Twitter. The only exposure I get to it is through reddit and now here. Even that is too much.

I do this on my YouTube feed to keep politics out of my gaming and flat earth content I typically like to watch.
