Those specs are adorable.
And the price absurd.
/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!
Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.
~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.
~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.
~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.
~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.
~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.
~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.
~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.
Fun will now commence.

In 97? That's a great deal, especially if it came with the monitor.
Guarantee the monitor was not included.
My last custom build from 3 years ago was a little over $3k. For that mass produced box at $2k from over 24ish years prior seems a bit stiff by comparison.
Moores law has been a kind bastard for a long time.
200mhz in 97, with 2GB of hard drive space? Bet it had a 56.6kb modem too. That was all premium components at that time, the ryzen 9, 4TB nvme 5 and wifi 7e/2.5gb ethernet of its day.
$2000 in 1997 is about $3920 today
In those days you could build it yourself for half the price of a name brand.
Edit: for the downvoters.
Did you ever go to a computer show and sale at a fairgrounds or expo center? Or buy/subscribe to Computer Shopper magazine (the one that looked like a telephone book).
The PC market was completely different in the 90's.
Well, that is eight times more CD-ROM speed than most any computer sold today.
Infinite more speed than the empty drive bays I'm using for CDs and DVDs.
Though I've been considering getting an external drive. Mainly to check if my old CD and DVD backups/data dumps are just junk now or are still readable (to probably rip the iso and then burn a new copy that will likely sit unused for another decade or two).
But can it play Doom?
That mfer would have run doom like a mofo
Has anyone tried calling the number and asking for the p200v?
The chip that runs the smart outlet my coffee maker plugs into has better specs than that lol
And yes, it can run DOOM
By Grabthar's Hammer, what a camcorder.
This is the most ‘90s image ever. They look like the cast of a sitcom. Secondly, I finally know what the device Picardo is holding is.
Of course the hidden detail of the computer monitor showing a screenshot from TOS is lovely.
Even in the promos Kes is awkwardly tacked on.
Be nice to her. She's just a toddler.
At least The Doctor has the camcorder; that's actually canon.
Why is Tom stealing a printer?
This, however, is not Canon. It's an HP.
It's from the time HP printers needed only a semiannual cleaning, would last a decade, and the cartridges were cheap.
Yep. That's what "killed" it for me. The cartridges that were like $25 when I first acquired it were like $65 by the time I got rid of it. Part of that could be due to it being an older model, but definitely shouldn't be a $40 difference in 6 years.
I think I got that printer for a family member for Christmas. And yes, before you ask, the 3d maze was the screensaver
I had it, too (or at least one in the same DeskJet 6xx family). Got it from a dumpster dive in high school, threw in some new ink cartridges, and was good to go. That thing lasted me all the way through college.
HP has fallen so far from grace it's crazy.
They seem to really want it that way for some reason
No, it's Sony.
I....I think I've seen this porn....
Holy crap! That is a glorious find Squid!!
It is. I admit I didn't find it, someone found it and I passed it on.
for some reason.
Money. The reason is money.
“We gotta do something nerds like to sell computers. What do nerds like?”
Where even chakotay has no purpose
But did he ever have one?
He was an insurance policy in case something happened to Janeway… or they needed to do an episode with aliens as the basis of some Indian/first peoples cultural background.
Given my hiring purposes this week, I'd actually hire Robert Beltran today in real actual life. I need a bullshitter to show what network telly can produce, and if they opt for him: it's their fault!
Akoocheemoya, please help with HR.
Lol, do you think he takes Indian rates? Only way this may work in a tech with org
Well the image with the webcam on his head wouldn't have been the same without him
They've all got that 80s-90s leanness. Before we plumped up on high fructose corn syrup.
Who's the one in green?
Jennifer Lien. Kes.
Does not look at all like her
It is the hair and the ears.
Oh dang I don't remember the long curly hair.
A lot of them have different hair in those pictures. It must have been between shooting seasons.
From what I understand a lot of actors wear hair pieces on TV shows for a consistent appearance.
