The percentile seems pretty accurate for that score, but the scale on the bell curve graphic is laughably wrong.

Are you telling me that's not an area equal to 0.1? I'm absolutely shocked, lol

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 months ago

I have seen several variations of this and I doubt any is real

Isnt 79 so low that he is legally mentally disabled?

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I believe the scientific term used to be "moronic".

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Not just moron, idiot has its roots as an old word for intellectual disability

IIRC, originally it meant ordinary person (as opposed to one especially educated). Which suggests that it fell onto the euphemism treadmill, and people using it colloquially to mean someone particularly stupid crowded out the formal meaning.

Yes, IQ was developed in the US so that it could determine who the state needed to sterilize. Don't worry, we haven't done that since the 70s. What's scary is that in American courts, IQ can still determine if you live or die.

Slight correction, but IQ was adopted, not developed, by eugenics folks. It's original purpose in Europe was strictly academic, to determine who might have trouble and need help in schools.

It's a metric I don't really want to defend, but it's not useless; it does work in predicting traditional academic success. But that's why we have alternative teaching methods for people with alternate ways of thinking.

I went to that truetest.com site and when I finished answering 40 questions they asked me for $10 or $25, claiming both options used to be TWICE as expensive I like to think I actually passed by saying "oh suck my balls" and closing the tab.

It isn't. This has been a meme forever. Percentages change and the message too, but its the same essentially.

Don't worry scro'! There are plenty of 'tards out there living really kick ass lives. My first wife was 'tarded. She's a pilot now.

"Smarter than 8% of the population."

Bro is in the bottom 10% lol! 🀣

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

1 in 10 people are in the bottom 10%. Its not that rare

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago

Not the first time I see this kind of thing posted, but it's still funny.

That bell curve graphic is pretty bad, looks like bottom 40% not bottom 10%.

Have I seen this before? Yes. Will I upvote it every time? YES!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

This is a free area, you can upvote what you want, but please consider that this is most certainly an ad being spammed on Lemmy by the true test website

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Stop advertising your shite website please.

You think people want to take an IQ test they're seeing MAGA use?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

I am perfectly fine with IQ tests being required for office and the subsequent electoral eradication of the Republican Party.
