Greed?
CordCutters - a place for those who have unsubscribed from traditional cable TV or satellite service
CordCutters is a place for those who have cut the Cable or Satellite TV cord, and want to know what other legal services are available. No piracy talk please, it could get the person posting it in trouble with the authorities and could get the community banned on some servers, so please only talk about products and services that are legal to use.
The one and only reason.
Thr first sentence of this article is utter bs. Streaming is *finally starting to pay off for media companies
It always has, I highly doubt hulu netflix and all the other greedy entities are losing $
Right? FAANG has been a thing for over a decade, and the N is Netflix.
Netflix won't be able to compete for long though, as Disney is basically buying most of the popular content. The way content licensing works (with exclusives, etc) just doesn't allow for a free market. The only way to have a free market is if all streamers have the same content library and they have to compete on quality, service, etc.
I actually consider pirating movies I have the rights to stream just to cut down on advertisements.
Yup, since a specific subscription I already pay for started inserting ads randomly into their programs, I've added a second 16TB seedbox to my house. Now if I hear that someone at home is interested in a particular series, or that an old program has been added to the service that someone wants to watch, I just queue it up for download and watch it on the TV using the VLC app.
Why refrain? Go for it
Literally convenience. Before ads it was just easier to stream the shows.
The fiber internet connection recently cut out for my neighborhood and I wasn't able to stream anything! Then I remembered I host everything locally and I don't give a shit
"here's why" price hikes and splitting shows across multiple subscriptions
In other news, Piracy is still free.
