My blue civic back in 2005 was nicknamed cobalt. "You can take cobalt to pick dad up at the airport". Something I had picked up from Gone in 60 seconds that I found cool (naming cars, not cobalt)

My car's plate has the letters LCP, so we call it El Capo (the mafia boss)

First car was a 93 Carolla named the rockolla. Then an 87 Supra turbo that looked like it was straight out of mad max. That was Facemelter. Then I had Gump, the no runner (a 4runner that was always breaking down) and then the station dragon. My current car is Beyonce.

Every gray car I have (always a hatchback) has been named "Vanship" after the flying vehicles in the anime Last Exile

It's just a nickname I know, I don't refer to the car like that to others

I had an old little red Toyota Yaris that I called Jennifer, because it looked like a Jennifer to me.

Now I have a dark blue Ford Focus that I call James for pretty much the same reason.

I... don't seem to name cars like you other folks do.

I have named my computer.

My spouse had a suped up Challenger named Gurtrude. It was a funny reaction when people saw it for the first time. They expected a beater.

S. S. Niggress (still going strong)

"Chaser" because we live out in the country and use it to pick up our dogs who sometimes wander off and we have to go retrieve. Also, because it's a Chevy. It's Chevy Chase_r_.

My first car was a 96 f-150 the previous owner named "Maurice" I didn't change it cause it supposed to be bad luck. Then I had a 2001 Pontiac grand am I called "Jaun claude" which I was rather proud of. My current one is just "V" cause it's a Ford Fusion Hybrid and the engine looks like it came out of cyberpunk.

We have a Hyundai Sonata hybrid with Blue Drive so she is called β€œBlue.”

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

We have a 2012 Ford Fiesta that we call "Siesta". That car sucks a good amount. Been meaning to get rid of it for years now.

I named my motorcycle. His name is Bubba, and he's a power bottom.

My white-and-chartreuse vintage bicycle is "Americano". Like the cocktail, not the coffee.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

I named my 2007 Audi S4 Brunnhilde. She is my beautiful Valkyrie, though I rarely see her nowadays.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

I inherited a brown Daiwoo Matiz and called it The Brown Streak.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

I normally name my cars their Model but, like, I won't say "The" prior to it. Neon was Neon. Aveo was Aveo. So, it's still a name but more a name in the Roach sense.

We own a Rose Gold Fiat 500 electric, aptly named Lady Penelope.

Curious to see if anyone will spot the correct reference:)

Hyperion, Hype for short.

My father always called my sisters car "Beulchen", which is the german diminutive word for dent. It was a very basic Ford Fiesta. No wireless car key, no electrically controlled side mirrors but at least it had AC.

My current car is named Lizzie, after Tin Lizzie, despite the fact that it’s in great shape. The first car I had was a rusted out β€˜93 Impreza we called Tin Lizzie. So when I got my newest car and the license plate started with LZZ, I took it as a sign to bring the name back.

I have named some of the cars I have owned.

1970 Chevy Impala: Liberty. I purchased it from a guy that lived in Liberty, KY.

1997 Nissan 200SX SE-R: Dot. It was one of ~700 200SX's made that year that was the Pacific Blue color and it reminded me of Carl Sagan's "The Pale Blue Dot" documentary.

2003 Acura TL: Sally. No specific reason, other than it just fit the personality of the car.

2014 Camry (current car): Pearl. It's painted in Toyota's Cosmic Mica Gray and it glitters in the sunlight, vaguely reminiscent of a pearl.

Just for reference, I'm 54 and have had a license since 1986. Liberty was my first car. There are a few cars not mentioned above, because I just never named them. The 200SX was the second SE-R I owned. The first was a 92 Sentra SE-R, which I liked a lot more than the 200SX, it just never got a name.

Vera. Technically given by a coworker.

She's a WRX with lots of parts from Cobb.

Vera was Janes favorite after all.

I named my red xtrail "Big Red" after the feminist, my first car was called Betty, named after Master Betty from Kung Pow.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

I had a car, license plate CME1234 (fake numbers) so I called it "The Comemobile"

little did I know that Neighborhood Tires could also see the name I gave it on the portal.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

I had a 2002 Ford ranger that I named Strider.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Never named any of my cars until we got an ID4. It is called Heidi.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

I named my Mustang Sally.

I find naming your car to be so cringe. You wouldn't name your TV or your washing machine. . .
