Small explosive charges separate the rotor blades before ejection.

normally it's not, but Ka-52 has a system that pops propeller off in such case. it's very unusual

It almost never works. I think there are only a couple of the shoot down videos where they use it, and my understanding is it's only worked a couple times this whole war.
