I'm asking here since I assume a lot of you guys are running homelabs on Lenovo hardware.

I have two M720q Tiny that came with one 8 GB 2400MHz SoDIMM RAM each (see picture). I upgraded one to 2x 32 GB RAM and want to reuse the sticks in the other one for 16 GB in total and dual channel use. They have different FRU numbers (see picture) but I assume it's the same marketing part number and I guess my plan works?

Can anyone confirm? I'm just unsure about dual channel since it's not exactly the same RAM and I'm used to using exact pairs.

Thanks!

You should not have any issues. Worst case scenario is that one is slower than the other and will cause the faster one to step down, but unless one is significantly slower, you should have no issues.

Generally, in the past 10 years at least, mixed memory on dual channel configuration has not been an issue.

Both are CL 19 do you should be fine.

Depends on if they're the same speed. Faster memory has shorter clock cycles.

It doesn't really matter too much though. The system should just run all the memory at the slowest speed/timings.

On my m920q I used a random RAM stick and works fine. I would have returned it if it worked only with specific RAM sticks, even Apple didn't do that

Compatible? Should be. Identical? No (at least not always). Only identical FRU are interchangeable.

As long as it fits into the slot, it should work.
