New Zealand athletes have bagged more gold medals at Paris 2024 than at any other Olympic Games in history.

The 10 golds claimed across the two weeks of competition have smashed the previous record of eight won at the 1984 Los Angeles Games.

The Kiwis also bagged seven silver and three bronze medals to take the total number to 20 and finish 11th on the medal table, between Germany and Canada.

That is the same number of medals won at Tokyo 2020, which was previously New Zealand's most successful Olympics in terms of numbers. Athletes took seven golds, six silvers and seven bronzes at that competition.

Damn kiwis! You Scary!

I didn't realise how many medals New Zealand had gotten, I was too caught up in how Australia was doing (great until Japan wrestled 3rd place from us).

Both have made me wonder if any one has done a per capita comparison of the tally?

Some NZ bloke made a medals per capita website. NZ got knocked from the top by a couple of tiny countries getting medals.

Here's golds, NZ in third:

And here's a weighted medal per capita table: (Gold = 4pts, Silver 2, Bronze 1) NZ is 4th on this list: http://medalspercapita.com/#weighted-per-capita:2024

It definitely helped having a couple of goats in stellar form in the team - they all looked like they were having a blast even those that didnt medal.

Yeah man, imagine the pole vaulters that got to the final because of a quirk in the selection process. They weren't expecting to get medals but now they can tell everyone they made it to the final.
