I don't see what the parable there is, but yes a lot of ecological damage is done unintentionally by people that also don't particularly care.

Very very powerful article, read every word until the end. I'm not a big eco warrior and I think some ecological impact is okay, were the benefits of progress shares equitably between all humans rather than lining the pockets of the rich. As it stands though we are reckless beyond belief.
