I visited Virginia City about two years ago. After about 10 minutes, We got the vibe loud and clear that this was a sundown town full of MAGA diehards. This black man's experience does not surprise me at all.

I've been going to Virginia City once every few years since I was a kid. I was actually planning on bringing my kids there this week for the 1st time since I'm in Tahoe with them. This incident has me second guessing doing that. It's a cool old silver rush town that still looks like the old West. I haven't been since MAGA has been a thing. There were always a lot of Harley riders that used to go there. Of course in recent years, a lot of those folks have become MAGA idiots. It's sad really. A lot of the more rural places I enjoy have become less and less palatable since MAGA has been a thing. I absolutely hate driving through a town I used to love and seeing some moron selling trump merch on the side of the road to all the locals who are eating it up.

I wonder wont that destroy their economy long term? If no normal people are willing to move there, then in the long term it will probably die.

Those local economies were barely hanging on by a thread to begin with.

It was already a dying, small town. The only people that moved there were white MAGA retirees living off of social security.
