Now the fun of seeing Exmormons look at the books side by side to see what changes, for good or bad, have happened.

Rumors swirling that kinder language toward LGBTQ in the old edition has mysteriously vanished.

It came out after my mission. And boy I was I glad to have avoided the workbook style of PMG.

My dad used filmstrips and a flannel board on his mission. I used six set lessons. This new-fangled Preach My Gospel manual is for coddling youngsters who can’t handle memorization.

Having said that, this new manual includes teachings that were anti-Mormon lies 30 years ago.

Oh god, the thought of having to memorize not just bits and pieces, but ENTIRE CHAPTERS of scriptures gave me incredible anxiety. I absolutely suck at memorization and need to refer to notes I've written out years ago (general stuff, like specific commands for server maintenance).

Oooooh, like what?

Multiple versions of the First Vision

Which I interpret as Joseph, even if he believed he'd seen a vision, hadn't actually seen one and his memory kept drifting. Like a "big fish" story.

They are spinning a positive angle to keep kids from being weirded out by stuff they learn online.

Side question: do all missionaries refer to their investigators as "friends" now or is that just my brother's mission? I find it mildly abusive of the word friend.

Sounds like they are trying to convince the missionaries more than the investigators. Trying to keep them from seeing them as numbers. Too bad the mission presidents and apostles see them that way.
