I almost bought one about 4 years ago, but when I went and saw it in person it just looked…unfinished. It seems like it’s just a stripped down MT-07 that they’re trying to pass off as retro. The Kawasaki Z650RS does a much better job of capturing that retro look.

Here we discuss everything related to riding, maintenance and gear.
What about it in person made you not to buy it? I like it. But I like it being upright and naked ;)
It just looked like it was designed for much more of it to be covered up. It didn’t have any style, like no care had been put into aesthetics. I ended up with a CB1100. If I were going to pick a retro twin, I’d probably go with a Triumph Bonneville or the Kawasaki. I ended up finding a used CB1100. I really would’ve preferred a twin, but the price was right and I love the style.
I can see that for sure. Especially compared in person to the Kawasaki. I'm hoping to post the Kawasaki next.
How do you like your CB1100?
The CB worked out really well. It’s got the retro look and feel, it’s comfortable, it’s smooth. It’s got plenty of power as long as you’re not trying to race with it. It even has a center stand, which is really helpful for any kind of maintenance. Mine’s a 2014, so it’s got the 6 speed gearbox. It’s a little bit wider than I’d like, and even though it doesn’t feel heavy while you ride it, you can feel the weight when you’re pushing it around the garage.
This might be my dream bike currently. The only issue it I need a comfortable passenger seat, not sure how these are.
Currently have a 2000 r6, which is great.. but the rear seat is definitely not comfortable!
Always loved the styling on these. Maybe I’m just a sucker for plain round headlights and plain round gauges. Realistically I’d shoot for the 900 for that sweet 3-cylinder. But I really do like the 700s as well.
Now if Honda would just bring the Hornet to the States…
I like those rims.
Can't go wrong with forged rims. And the color that matches the accent it very nice imo
Had that model on my shortlist, before I saw the new Transalp in person.
