I just read a CBC article about the arrest, and it does sound excessive to me. (an American, so my opinion is meaningless) seems he has a history of badgering the people he wants to interview and has been detained by protective details before. This time he may have bumped into a police officer, was quickly released unconditionally, and not charged.

He literally didn't. Trudeau's bootlicker walked straight into the guy, and then arrested the guy, entirely because the Canadian government is in he business of censoring dissent.
