It's just a shame that the official mod tools are so neutered in the name of Wizards being able to protect their brand. No custom asset support, no map editor, no cutscene editor, no new NPCs or dialog, etc.

Basically, you are limited to making new gear (but limited to gear models that already exist), tweaking spell effects, and custom dice skins apparently.

I have a sneaking suspicion modders will find ways to expand that repertoire.

One can hope, but some features like a level editor may be too much to bet on.

At the very least, the official mod tools don't seem like they'll be adding anything that modders haven't already figured out how to do themselves, so we're no worse off than we were.

Fuck WotC. I hope to support Larian on their next project, but I only bought BG3 begrudgingly on the basis of how much I dislike wizards.

Yeah, it's a bit of a let-down when you compare what's on offer here with a previous Larian title like Divinity 2. That game lets you make full on campaigns.

What the hell. That's dumb af

yeah go use the witcher 3 toolset instead, they actually released all their tools and even made new plugins for blender support

Use Larian’s previous game’s tools

Or Metro Exodus’s tools

While I could never into the game play style, I still don't regret buying as the product and services is great.

This is what AAA is supposed to be, take notes Todd.

Depending on how extensive the official modding toolchain is, this will truly cement BG3 as a timeless game of this generation.

I wonder. If it's anything like the custom options for "home games" in dos2, it might not be super great, but they've learned an extraordinary amount since then, so maybe? Hard to tell at this stage.

The game is without a doubt a classic game that will be played by generations to come.

If they can make a mod to make Astarian fuck off, I'm in!
