Been poking around All recently and I've noticed that there is more lemmy activity in Dutch than any other non-English language. German following that, and then Portuguese (I think, maybe Spanish). I see more Nederlander posts than even the UK instances. So what's up with this? Cheers from Canada πŸ˜™

I say hello from the low lands, but I mostly feel like I’m alone here. Who else is from NL?

Aren't we literally posting in a The Netherlands community?

Hallo daar :)

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago

I mean, I personally don't think it's that popular, but I guess that the few Dutch users who are on Lemmy, just post a lot. I personally post often about Dutch football, in [email protected]

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago

There was no instance for Belgium when I joined, so I am a Dutch imposter πŸ₯Έ

Why is lemmy so popular in the Netherlands?

Not sure it really is ? Where do you see all the posts in Dutch except here in this rather quiet place :) ?

Anyway, hello from the Low Lands. How's Canada these days ?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It seems like a lot are on lemy.nl.

As for Canada, we're having a lot of problems. Unaffordable housing, food inflation, so on and so forth. Doesn't seem like things will get better for a while, either. How goes it over there?

I see. But that is a Lemmy site with bots posting and no comments.

So sorry to hear that.

Bad. Far right government is almost ready to start governing, but if you ask me, things were already pretty bad. I guess it could be much worse though.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I hope for your sake that they govern well. I've heard that your new prime minister is an independent. Do you think that will help temper the far right coalition?

I'd expect the new prime minister to only be a messenger for the new coalition like a pizza delivery boy. But on the whole things could be worse, like in Hungary.

Yeah, I'm glad neither of our countries have a Russian asset for a leader.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I'm on a Dutch instance but it looks very quiet (I do have bot accounts disabled though).

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

Yeah, after disabling various bots reposting from nos and other sources, there doesn’t seem much left from the Netherlands.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

Oh, maybe this is what I'm seeing. :/

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

It's not? First time I've seen anything Dutch. And I am Dutch

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Oh interesting, I didn't know you could view the origin. Tbh wondering where the activity is coming from, because all activity in Dutch I see is pretty low. Maybe some bots? Or do you mean that a lot of traffic originates from the Netherlands?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

No, I just mean so much of it is in Dutch, on a .nl instance, or both.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Where are you finding all these Dutch posts? This is the only vaguely active Dutch sub I know of

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The lemy.nl instance. But I've just read that it might just be a bunch of bots, so :(

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

Aw. We're pretty used to hanging out in English-speaking spaces so there's probably more Dutch folk hiding around. I do know the head admin of lemmy.world is Dutch, as well as one of the main devs of mbin.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

I mostly read on other Lemmy's or however you say that. But I still come across this post. :)
