I need my work emails on my mobile. They only work with Exchange/Activesync. IMAP is not an option. Is there a good, privacy respecting app for Android out there? I would like if I could use the same app for my other E-Mails which all use IMAP. I now use Gmail, but I hate the unnecessary connection with the big G. I'd also prefer not to use Outlook (mobile) because it (might) send your credentials to MS.

K9/Thunderbird said they're working on exchange support

I tried. They must be still working on it because I could not find the possibility to add an Exchange-Account

#Microsoft Exchange support

We’re very very very close!

So far we have the main flow completed, and we’re able to set up an account, fetch folders, fetch messages, and display messages. We’re finalizing the outgoing flow in order to send messages, and after that we will start an audit to ensure that all the usual features you expect from interacting with your email are working.

Expect some future call to actions to test things and invites to switch the experimental pref ON.

There was something in one of the recent blogs about it also coming to Android, but I can't find it. Sadly though, it looks like it's months out, rather than weeks. Sorry to get your hopes up.

There is still a spark of hope... If this is really coming I might just wait for it. Thank you for your research!

Found it

#Will there be Exchange support for Thunderbird for Android?

Yes! Implementing Exchange in Rust in the Thunderbird Desktop client will enable us to reuse those Rust crates as shared libraries with the Mobile client. Stay up to date on Exchange support progress via our monthly Developer Digests.

The App "Nine - Mail & Calendar" used to be quite good for Exchange. I used it years ago and was quite happy. Currently it has only 3.5 stars on the Play Store so I don't know how good it still is.

Back when I used it I checked it for privacy and considered it save. No idea about the current status though. It is not FOSS.

I use it for my work mail. I can’t speak to their privacy, but I think it’s ok. So far as I know they haven’t done anything stupid, and all the connections are only from my device, no cloud intermediary.

I do like that it allows you to only apply the ActiveSync policies to the app instead of the entire device. If my employer remote wipes my device, it only impacts the app.

My DDG-search came up with Nine too. There seem not to be much information around its privacy which makes me hesitant.

I can't comment on their privacy, but I thought of Nine when I read your post. I used it back before the Outlook app supported folders. I think it was a great alternative and worked better than anything out there... Mind you, it was years ago.

Also, have you thought about using a different user profile for just work? I know you're asking about apps but you can gain some privacy from segregation too.

Another vote for Nine. Most tweakable mobile Mail app I've ever used.

Would Bluemail be an option? https://bluemail.me/help/add-exchange-account/

Not Open Source and no idea about any privacy issues (but would be interested to know).

Aqua Mail is a great android email client which I've been using for years. It does offer exchange support, although I've only been using imap accounts, so ymmv.

Unfortunately not an option because my workplace does not allow the webmail.

What model phone do you have?

Nevermind then. I was gonna say Samsung's default mail app does what you want and afaik has no connection with Samsung or Google servers.
