This is so sad, I don't understand how any moderator would still feel ok to stay on reddit... Thank you for sharing

What the.... ?!!!!!

Is spez offering rewards to reddit employees for the most subs they undark now or something????

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 year ago

If any employees were involved they were just told to send the form letter to any sub still private. It was probably automated, I haven't paid attention to any time stamps. Intimidation is all it is.

I can't stop laughing at someone going after r/diynailpolish.

Millions affected! Open the damn door or we'll blow out your windows!

Wow I figured if a sub had less than 30 people they would not bother. I have a sub that only has 2 subscribers which I made restricted and edited the lounge post. All of the posts besides the lounge post are now set to nsfw as well.

The message I have in the lounge post.

"Due to reddits Unreasonable Api changes which will effect moderators and screw over blind people we have moved to. https://kbin.social/m/magazinename"

You are a threat to Steve's ego, he can't have that.

They're totally grasping at straws.

I got one of these today! Yeah good luck with that, Reddit.

I opened and put links to the discord and to here that I started.

The success of reddit is balancing on whether you open up that incredibly defiant group of nail artists! 🙃

Well, I'm glad you've found your way here. There are a couple of groups that might be of interest to you ...

@Laqueristas
@lemmylaqueristas

Welcome! 🤗

Both links gave me a 404 error. I also started a group here.

Yeh, it's my first time linking on here so I'm still learning how to do it. And I think it's different too, for Lemmy, kbin, and mastodon. Often I just copy the name or link and paste it to search in kbin to find the location.

I'm also finding the links I posted above send me to 404 if I click directly, but will open correctly if I right click/open in new tab. But here are two links that might work for kbin, however I dunno if they would work for Lemmy users lol.

edit: oh, and thanks! I've subbed to "Nails"

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

Just checked and I have the same. Will be nuking all of my subs in a couple of hours.

They may as well just remove the "Private" feature from Reddit since it's against the CoC to use it at this point.

This was actually a question I have, if I create a subreddit and start to mod it, does Reddit now own my subreddit? Yes, it does

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Reddit owns the subreddit, you own your content, other users own their content. Reddit has a license to use your content. And of course, Reddit can do whatever they like with any subreddit.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

you own your content, other users own their content

I think this may be confusing for laymen. From a copyright standpoint you are off course correct, you are the author and therefore the "owner" of the words you just wrote on Reddit.

But from a practical point of view the copy you send Reddit once you press submit takes a life of its own, governed by a very broad-reaching license, which for all intents and purposes means you don't control that copy anymore.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

100% correct, and I agree... people do not grasp the nuance there in most cases. Awaiting the day Reddit tries to claim they own the content though.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sad. Have you thought of making it on Kbin or Lemmy?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Already did. In fact I made a few and am working on getting the mod teams on Reddit to make the jump. I will then hand over the Kbin that is for them. I figured it would be easier if I have a place for them to land ready to go.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

I have a sub of like 4 subscribers/posts that I closed shortly after opening it because I realized that I had no time to mod. I might want to check in on that sub…
