For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

These fucking guys paying six figures for a dirty, broken, uncharged cybertruck. I mean seriously, they’re REALLY gargling Elons balls, this is insane. I wouldn’t take delivery of a fucking Corolla if it arrived like this, let alone a car the cost of a small house.

[–] [email protected] 51 points 6 months ago (1 children)

My first car was a Corolla that was older than me and practically free. Apart from having to change the battery a couple of times over the years I never had a problem keeping it running. Now 10 years after getting rid of it I'd still choose to take it back over one of these stupid things.

My silver 1986 Toyota Corolla manual transmission sedan, which I inherited from my mom in 1998 or so, was my favorite car I ever owned. I miss it. I drove it for years until the tire rod snapped and I smashed into a parked car.

A tire rod snapping is no joke. An 18 wheeler flipped over outside of my workplace on Monday because of that. Nobody was seriously hurt, fortunately. It took hours to get it cleared up.

Pretty sure it's "tie rod" , but yeah, that's one of the really important parts of the steering system.

Yes, you just need to pick a conspiracy theory and sell products to people with brainworms. You could sell something like deworming medication or videos about election fraud.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago

holy shit where can i find myself a finsub

I have zero sympathy for Cybertruck buyer's remorse. Its shortcomings have been more than adequately covered in the media and besides, just look at it.

[–] [email protected] 41 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I played a lot of Nintendo 64 so it looks fine to me. Don't worry on my behalf, I'd never buy one. I want a vehicle that can survive a light rain or foggy morning.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 6 months ago

Lol the cybertruck has fewer polygons than a cruisin' 64 model

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I feel like one of the few people who actually think it looks cool. I'd never want one of course but they look cool.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 months ago

Much like every other Tesla, they look cool and futuristic until you actually get your hands on a production model and can see every corner that was cut.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 months ago

Nah. There’s a good chance they’re receiving now what they ordered before all that was widely known.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago

The owner is still happy with his purchase. Said best customer service today. 🤦

Good lord, reading some of the comments on this article made me lose braincells. Musk sure is owning the marxist libs with these fucking leaky refrigerators on wheels.

Idk, something just irks the hell out of me when people are like "50% battery is actually good bro, it's the perfect storage level for lithium bro". It's not in storage anymore, it's being delivered.

ICE cars are shipped with a quarter tank or less, but they are never delivered without close to a full tank. The fact that the Tesla dealer didn't spend the $1 of electricity or the half hour washing it down is just plain rude. And yet, people are still defending this shit as if being abused by big daddy musk is their life's greatest goal. Absolutely mind boggling.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 6 months ago (1 children)

It’s almost like Tesla supporters are mentally deficient or something.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 months ago

Narcissism. They don't want the embarrassment of being wrong.

Destin, Florida

Arguably the best beaches in the continental United States. Absolutely lovely area. My wife and I planned to retire there...then Trump came down some escalators and the once merely annoying, always complaining "conservatives" lost their fucking mind. In 2023, we finally sold everything and abandoned the area.

This guy bought what he deserved.

[–] ramirezmike 7 points 6 months ago

100% agree on the best beaches

As the Destin song everyone definitely knows says.. "Miami is cool... but I'd rather live in Destin"

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

:(

I hope you found a new area to invest in.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 months ago

Somewhere that rising sea levels won't flood you, hopefully.

Gotta figure something like that would be covered under a lemon law, though sounds like dude is letting them go through the motions.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago

This was my first thought. It's not a warranty issue. You delivered a broken product. In the old days that was referred to as a lemon.

I don't have a problem with the buyer giving Tesla a chance to do the right thing, which they clearly refused to do, but at the same time, this isn't the end of this story.

Tesla has so many fanboys with their heads shoved so far up elons ass that they can taste what he's eating. Those fanboys, I'm sure, will say everything about how Tesla is right etc, but the legality of this has been long established.

Any lawyer worth their salt would advise Tesla to settle this by any means necessary, because going to the courts will very likely be much worse. The only way they could possibly "win" when it comes to court is to draw it out for long enough that the prosecution runs out of money.

[–] [email protected] 38 points 6 months ago

At this point, with all this information out there, if anyone goes out and buys a Tesla it's their own damn fault (and Tesla's, of course).

[–] [email protected] 34 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Sorry, we don't cover things we're responsible for in our warranty.

We don't cover things you're responsible for either, by the way.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago

Responsibility? What's that? No politician is held responsible for anything. Why would shit for brains think any different?

[–] [email protected] 33 points 6 months ago (1 children)

You have to imagine this would be covered under a state’s lemon law. These defaults, at this point, almost seem intentional.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 months ago

It's in Florida, the state that outlawed water breaks for construction workers. I'm surprised they have any laws left that aren't just "obey your landlord/employer or die."

[–] [email protected] 26 points 6 months ago

"Sorry, we were about to send that tow truck we promised, and then Elon fired the driver"

[–] [email protected] 19 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Very, very sad to see a company go from hero to dumpster fire caused by a CEO nuke so quickly.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 6 months ago

On the other hand it's nice to see the mask finally ripped off. Now people can stop buying substandard products pushed by a modern snake oil salesman.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 months ago

All Musk had to do was shut the fuck up and not be such an egomaniac and they'd be fine, but apparently that's just not an option.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 6 months ago (1 children)

With these issues insurgents will stick to their trusty old toyota

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 months ago

Those Toyota's trucks are like 300 year old Tortoises, they don't die.
